Mac Mail deletes backwards

Don't really know how to explain this but once I delete a message in my Mail, the newer message appears. How do I make it so that the older message appears first (outlook has it this way)

It may simply be a matter of clicking the column headings to determine the sort field (usually date) and the sort order (ascending or descending).
