Mac Mail display has gone bonkers: fix?

I am uncertain how it happened or what happened, but....

My Mac Mail display is suddenly screwed up.

The Mail program no longer displays the mail content window
that appears below the message.

The TO FROM and SUBJECT information is there, but not the
contents of the email beneath. If I want to see the contents I need to
click on the actual SUBJECT to open a new window to read the
contents.

In all my experiences with Mac Mail this is a new one on me.

Any way I can restore Mac Mail using the original install discs?

If this is the only way to restore files that may have become
damaged please provide me with easy instructions how to restore
my system without losing any information.

you mean it's showing a big list of your mails, and no body?

so if you double click on the message, you see it?

do you see this at the bottom of the window? if so, drag it up.

That seems normal to me, or at least that's how I've got mine setup.

I can't find any option to enable a preview pane, try dragging the bottom up. That'll give you the preview pane.

You can also double click it to have it snap back to where it was before.

Somehow the preview pane was compressed.

Just dragged it back into position and realized what a fool I was.

I'm Still A Dummy!

I don't understand how to correct the problem as obviously NJRonbo has. I miss seeing the message at the bottom. Please tell this dummy how to get the message preview pane at the bottom back.

Been a while but....

I believe all I did was drag the little dot that lies in the middle
of the pane.

Let me know if this works

Mac Mail Gone Bonkers

Yup! That did it. Now I feel dumb that I couldn't figure that out myself. I pulled down every menu bar list to try to find the answer.

how can i set my preview pane to be on the right side of my mail? A person at work has that but he's never there when i'm working.

He also has the dock like 2d but i think that's candybar... but anyone know how i can make my preview pane on the right?
