Mac Mail fails to refresh one account

Hi all,

One of my email accounts, a Google account, frequently fails to automatically update when Mail is open. Next to the account, a horizontal lightning sign inside a ring is displayed & when I click on that, the account refreshes as normal. After a while, the account will display the horizontal lightning sign again. No other email account has this problem, none of my other Google accounts either. I have removed this account and logged into it again, to no avail.

Does anyone have a clever fix for this?

I have had similar issues, repeatedly over a period of days and weeks. Noting I do fixes it except for waiting and then, voila, it mysteriously works again. I am wondering if this is an issue with Google....
Wish I could help more.
