Mac Mail/Gmail help please

I have my Gmail account set up through Mail,but I cannot figure out how to keep it from removing my messages from the Gmail server. Everytime Mail downloads a message its gone from my web based Gmail. Is there anyway to disable this? Thanks in advance.

I have it setup for use in Mail/Thunderbird/iPhone works perfectly.
