Mac Mail/Gmail super slow all of a sudden

I've made no changes, but about a week ago my outgoing mail via Mac Mail running through Gmail Imap has almost hit a stand still.
My internet is fine.
Went to Gmail setup and all is the same.
Even tried turning off IMAP and then back on again.
Any ideas?
Something up with Gmail?
