Hey everyone, my grandparents are going to bye a new mac and they want to use their email address from there pc on there mac. So how do you set it up so you can use your email on your mac.

Thanks!

Depends on what the email is? Is it hotmail, gmail, or the one from their ISP? As long as it has either POP or IMAP functionality it can be set up in mail.app

It's just the email from Outlook Express

No, outlook express is the program they are using to check their mail now. Outlook express does not give you an email account. Their email account is probably provided by their ISP, and probably via POP (or maybe IMAP) so should be able to be set up in mail.app.

What comes after the @ in their email address, this will tell you who supplies the email account. For example @verizon.net, @gmail.com

It is @zoominternet.net

It is @zoominternet.net

So, yes, it uses the POP3 protocol which mail.app supports.

Incoming Mail (Pop3): pop3.zoominternet.net
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.zoominternet.net

When you first open mail it will ask you to set up a new account, use the info above and you should be all set.

You can go to their internet provider's website, http://armstrongmywire.com/

In the help section, they should have instructions on setting up an email program. If they only give instructions for setting up Outlook, post them back here and someone will be able to translate those into instructions for Apple's Mail.

Alternatively, they could just use webmail, which they would just access through their browser at https://beta.agoc.com/webmail/

EDIT: beat me to it

Cool so when you open it up you can set it up very simply?
