Mac Mail Lion OS Preview Pane Date Issue

When in the three column view the blue field in the second column (preview) only works with times in the field for today's email. And also with the word 'yesterday' for yesterday's email. But, there are no dates showing for anything past 'yesterday'. I know this is available because I've seen pictures of what Lion Mail should look like. When I switch to "classic" view the dates are there with no problems. Is this an 'indexing' issue? I would think that it isn't since the dates show in 'classic' view. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution

I have found my own solution by reading this: I did not realize where Mail was grabbing that date field til I read this article. Fixed it and also learned a cool way to customize that date field with the time as well: http://www.macworld.com.au/help/show-dates-and-times-in-mails-message-list-37813/
