I want to transfer the information from my iMac to my wife's iMac as my machine seems to be dying. I can save her files to an external hard drive but I'm concerned about how to save her e-mail. She has passed away and I want to use some of her e-mail for references in the future to complete a book she was working on. I don't want to lose the e-mail and my thought was to save it to iCloud or Google Drive, etc.

What is the safest way to do this?
How do I access the mail in the future in order to complete her research?

Thanks.

Depending what versions of OS X you are running on each machine, Migration Assistant can transfer your account from your iMac to your wife's iMac, and leave her account intact. Then you would use the machine normally by logging in (either automatically or manually), and then could access her old information by using her login credentials to login manually.

Additionally you should make Time Machine backups to an external drive, Time Capsule or iCloud to ensure the information is accessible later in case of a future hardware failure.
