Mac Mail showing unread e-mail in Gmail under Inbox

OK, so I recently set up Gmail IMAP on both my iPhone and the Mac Mail.

All working fine, however, whenever I receive an e-mail, and after I have read it from my iPhone, the e-mail still shows up as being unread, but only under Gmail inbox under Mails Maileboxes > Inbox > Gmail... it's showing as read in Gmail > All Mail folder.

Any suggestions?

What's the huge difference between them? (POP and IMAP)

Basically, once you read e-mail on Mac Mail thats set up as an IMAP account, then the same e-mail on www.gmail.com would automatically be marked as read. Whereas in POP, you would have two unread e-mails, and would have to read the e-mail in Mail, and gmail.com.

If that made sense
