Mac Mail signature doesn't work

I copied and pasted the signature block from a colleague at my new job when creating a new signature under the preferences pane, but for some reason the color and formatting appear fine on my screen but but don't render properly when emailed out (the gold lettering appears all black). Anyone have an idea why it's not working?
