I am a brand new user, so please be gentle. :p

I was a pc user and converting files and moving over to my Macbook Pro. I am just using Mail for my email, which I was using outlook. I have sync'd and it has pulled all my email over - which is fine I have set up folders 'on my mac' to file and organize. I like to keep mail for reference - no matter how old it is. I spent a good hour yesterday moving messages to specific folders 'on my mac' however, once I move to another folder, they all are back in my inbox and the 'on my mac' folder I moved it too is empty. I thought I had gone through all the preferences to ensure everything is stored on the mac and not the gmail server.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :)
