Hey all,

I was going to purchase a brand new mini, but then I got side tracked and purchased a MacBook Air. So, I am minimal on the mini budget at this time, but someone has an Intel 1.66 up for sale for $300.00. I know that Lion is going to be coming out soon, so would this be an alright purchase to use for normal use, no heavy graphics and such. Or just let it go as it is really dated.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:D

Depending on what you are planning on using it for, I suggest waiting. Save up your cash, and buy a newer one for just a couple hundred bucks more. You'll be glad you did, the difference in speed will be worth it.

It depends. It is a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo (according to previous mac mini specs) so correct me if im wrong, but I read core duo is not 64-bit capable and lion MAY be 64-bit only. It will work fine for internet browsing and email. I would wait until next mac mini refresh and then grab the current generation refurb to save money. Hope this helps

This is why I love this place!!!! I totally forgot about the 64 bit issue. Now if I could find a 2009 mini for $425.00, I would be all over it. Thanks all. You saved me from making a mistake.:D

For ~$220 you can upgrade it to a 2.33 C2D - its not really difficult.
