Hi,
I just put a leftover second SATA SSD into my 2012 mediaplayer Mac Mini. The machine is equipped with a Samsung 850 Evo and a Samsung 840 pro. The drives appear fast each on their own but copying large files between them seems really slow - I just waited about one hour for a 130 GB file transfer, felt like a transfer from network or USB2 disk.
i5, 16 GB of RAM, OS is High Sierra and both drives are formatted as Journaled HFS+ (no encryption). Neither of them is filled up by more than 75%.
Anywhere to look for to identify why the transfers are slow like that? I hope it's not a limitation of the controller?
