Hi all, I just the bought the Mac mini 2018 as a stopgap because my daily driver 15" mbp broke down suddenly and don't want to spend 3k on the current 16". i5/256GB with base RAM and planning to upgrade to 32GB. I have generally always used Crucial in the past for Mac memory upgrades, however, I'm getting a bit confused about the options for the mini. Crucial and resellers show difference in compatibility for the modules.

Crucial sells three different 16GB sodimm 2666MHz ddr4 modules:
  1. CT16G4S266M (for Mac branding) (https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct16g4s266m/ct19038647)
  2. CT16G4SFRA266 (https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct16g4sfra266/ct18627511)
  3. CT16G4SFD8266 (https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct16g4sfd8266/ct13492046)
From older threads, I know both the SKUs ending with ...266M and ...D8266 should work just fine, but what about the the FRA266? What's the difference between FRA266 and FD8266? From the older threads it also sounds like Crucial was only recommending the 266M "for Mac" for Apple in the past, but all of the three RAM sticks now show up as compatible when selecting the 2018 mini on Crucial's compatibility tool.

FRA266 is available for pickup right away in a local store but they explicitly told me it won't work in the mini and that I should get the 266M 🧐. The two other options will take couple of business days to arrive (and probably longer due to Easter...). Can't find much about the FRA266 in Macs. Anyone can explain me what the difference is and what I should get? Prices don't seem to the differ that much, only a small markup for the "for Mac" stick.

In addition, Crucial lists the 3200MHz as compatible, but those options are unnecessary I guess?
