So my Mac mini 2018 died on the weekend, it was the 6 core i5, 256gb config, display issues..took it to my nearest apple store and they said there was an issue with the logic board! Only 2 months old but they insisted on a repair :(

Anyway as I need a Mac, I decided to pick up the new base 13'' pro to keep me going, with the intent of taking it back within the 14 day return window..but its winning me over, feels no different in daily use to my Mac mini and I like that I can connect it to my monitor and then use it out and about too.

So thinking of selling the mini when I get it back and keeping the pro, are there any cons to doing this?, apart from the lower specs I guess? Is the MacBook ok with being closed and connected to a monitor the majority of the time, is it ok for thermals?

If I was you, I would give it a try for a week and keep an eye on performance and temps and then make a decision.

Lots of opinions available here but the best thing to do is use it as you need to.

Maybe after that you may want more ram etc or storage and can return and CTO one?
