My 2018 Mac Mini with Catalina boots to the login screen just fine. But it takes ages to log in after I’ve entered my credentials. I haven’t clocked it, but it takes at least several minutes. I’ve checked if there are any weird login items, but besides some Adobe stuff and Magnet, everything seems fine.

Sometimes it displays other behavior. Booting then runs fine, but the login screen seems partially frozen. I can use the Tab-key to highlight different items on the login screen, but my mouse (a bluetooth Logitech MX Master 2) doesn’t do a thing. Turning it on and off doesn’t help, switching channels on the mouse doens’t either. When it returns to life after a couple of minutes and I log in to my account, the logging in happens as quickly as it should.

When I’m logged in, the Mac Mini seems to run just fine.

So what’s the problem here, and how could I solve this? It’s such a weird issue, I really don‘t know how to fix this. Even my 2012 MacBook Pro is quicker to log in to...
