Hi,

I recently purchased a Hagibis USB-C Hub with a SATA HD Enclosure from Aliexpress 4 weeks ago and just been having issues in the last couple of days with SSD dropping connection and then later remounting after a few minutes.

I've tried replacing the USB-C cable and switching the SSD to a different enclosure which seems to work fine. I don't have anything plugged in the hub's just in case it was some power draw. I've switch the connected port on the Mac mini just in case.

I'm wondering if it's a Mac mini issue? I'm wondering if any had similar issues with hard drive enclosures?

Between the Mini, the hub, the cable, and the SSD, I would say the Mini is the least likely culprit. This is especially true for the 2018 Mini which has been out long enough that everyone would now know if the machine had this problem.

My first suspicion is that the hub is a problem. Try connecting the SSD directly to the Mini. Even better, remove the hub entirely and see if the Mini and SSD still work together reliably.

No issues with enclosures on my mini. However, you may want to check your bus layout of your ThunderBolt 3/USB-C ports. Each pair operates with each other. For example, if you want two additional displays, you have spread out the individual plugs if you don't have an eGPU.

Good to know, I'll check my ports but I pretty much just have the the hub and another 10TB drive for long term storage, nothing that should be a major issue.

I'm guessing I got a lemon which is to be expected on Aliexpress. At least the USB hub portion still works.

I’ve also experienced an unmounting issue with the Hagibis Hub. There is a YouTube discussion about here:
The suggested fix is to swap out the USB C to USB C cable and interface the Hagibis and the Mac Mini with a USB C to USB A cable instead. Not all USB C to A cables will work. I’m looking into that and will report back if I find anything.

Many Amazon reviewers mentioned it after they've had the product a while. I was VERY tempted to buy it, but went with a different solution instead.

Let us know how it works out. I hope you get it working to the way you need it to operate.

It’s been two weeks since I swapped over to a USB C to USB A cable and I can report that I haven’t had any unmounting issues of the external ssd housed in the Hagibis.
