I have a mac mini and just bought a Viewsonic vx2025wm. When I hook the display to the mini, I get nothing. I hooked it up to an old Dell and it works fine. My mini works fine with my Samsung monitor.

I called Viewsonic and they couldn't tell me what to do except to try to trick it by hooking up the monitor to the VGA connection on the mini. There is no VGA connection on the mini. Their next piece of advice was to return the monitor. Useless!

Has anyone run into this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

DVI types

Hi

There are a few different types of video connectors under the same name "DVI".
You can have a look at the schematics over here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI

You can compare these schematics with the connectors on both your monitors and your Mac, then get the appropriate cable for your devices - I believe it's a DVI-I double link if you want to use more than 1600x1200 resolution. The use of VGA connector will require an adapter which I believe is bundled with the MacMini.

Good luck
