my moms mac mini has been being slow lately, i was using it hte other day and it takes a long time to start up, and applications such as ilife and safari take a while to load. it was fine before, and theres room on the hd, it also has 1 gig of ram. what coudl be making it go so slow?

If you haven't added a background process in the startup folder, new driver, etc. and it is still slow after a restart...

Run fsck/Disk First Aid, repair permissions, update prebindings.

Update the prebindings, this may get rid of some lingering problems also.
