I've got an old 2006 Mac Mini 1,1... When I power this machine on, holding the Option key, I do not get the chance to select a boot drive - it just boots into MacOS 10.6.8. If I hold Option+Command+P+R it also just boots to MacOS 10.6.8 instead of resetting the PRAM.

I know that the keyboard is working - I've tried two different Mac keyboards wired directly to the USB on the back of the machine.

One thing I do notice is that if I hold the power button in, the LED on the front will flash and then I'll get a beep. The machine then boots to 10.6.8 as usual.

Is there anything that would cause the Mini to ignore the keyboard until after the boot has started?

I plan on opening the machine and pulling the battery to see if that makes any difference.

I did some digging and everything I found said it was the keyboard, so I dug up an old Acer USB keyboard and that works!

For some reason, my two wired Mac keyboards will not respond until after the Mac Mini has started booting up!
