Mac Mini - display resolution reverts back to default

2012 Mac Mini - I have a brand new installation of Catalina on it(clean installation/latest patch). I had no issues with the monitor until the computer sleeps. Usually what will happen is the Mini will not detect the model of the display and just show "default". If I unplug the replug the monitor it works right away.

Any ideas on how I can get this to stop recognizing the monitor?

Same issue with HDMI on M1 Mac Mini. No fix yet.

Hmm....Is this just with the last two OS releases? Catalina and Big Sur. I might just try wiping the machine and downgrade to Mojave(which would suck for time if it didn't work)
