Best rec for a 2018 mini dock/port expansion? OWC? Startec? i read that some of lesser cost ones heat up Basically just want some extra ports that can charge phones/ipad etc.

If you literally just want to charge devices from USB get a charging device. I’ve had overall poor experience with Orico’s computer accessories but the DUK-5P charging stand thing has been fantastic for phones/iPads/etc - http://www.orico.cc/usmobile/product/detail/id/3320.html
