The existing dvd drive does not work any more. Can I use any sata2 slim drive? In this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-mini-2009-compatible-internal-dvd-drive.1348699/ they say, that it must be a compatible drive like

Panansonic UJ-875A
HL GA32N
Sony-NEC OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5670S

with the proper firmware.

I would like to use an old slim dvd sata3 drive of an old HP Laptop or buy a cheap ebay drive like this one https://www.ebay.de/itm/HL-GA11N-DV...480381?hash=item1eee62f07d:g:UdIAAOSw41FaolBd. Would that work? Why do I need a specific firmware? SATA2 should be a clear standard (?).
