Can anyone give me some idea as to what the video encoding performance is like for the Mac Mini using iMovie 09? I want to pick up a new Mac Mini with either the 2.53 or 2.66Ghz CPU + 4GB of RAM. I realize that the main bottle neck here will be the CPU as there is no support for Grand Central Dispatch or Open CL in iMovie yet (arg
hurry up with iLife 10 already!) but how well does it perform? Are there any heavy iMovie users out there using a Mac Mini from 2009 that can give me some idea of the performance? Thanks.
I am wondering to myself if it may be best to hold off until the spring 2010 hardware refresh (assuming the Mini will get one) and see what we have in terms of CPU+GPU at that time. But it is so hard to sit here on my 8 year old craptastic Windows box while I see my wife enjoying her Mac at the table next to mine =(.
