Hello! Happy new year!

Now that I have the 1.92GHz Mac Mini G4, it would be nice to be able to expand the VRAM from 32MB to 64MB.

Reading around the net, I have seen that the 32MB models use two Hynix HY5DU283222A chips, and the 64MB models use two Hynix HY573222A. Both are Pin to Pin compatible.

I have some damaged motherboards, and among them is a PowerBook G4 1.67GHz motherboard, which used a Radeon 9700 with 128MB of memory. Checking the board, it has four HY573222A chips , like the 64MB VRAM Minis.

Then it would be possible to replace the original chips with these larger ones and have 64MB, but I don't really know what utilities I could use under Mac OS 9 or X to flash the ROM and recognize the 64MB.

Instead of using software, perhaps it should be done by reading the original 64MB ROM with a programmer and then dumping it into my model?

Thanks!!

@dosdude1 do you know anything about it?

P.S. The mini's F-33 VRAM chips run at 300MHz but in ROM they are set to only 190MHz. Have you done it due to temperature or consumption?
