i was wondering if the harddrive is hooked to a ribbon or more like a laptop where it locks on the pins?

It shouldn't make any difference either way... if it's the lock-on type of connector, it'll detach from the HD, so you can reuse it with any new HD that you happen to install. Ditto with the ribbon-type connector. It's all very standard.greenmeanie said:i was wondering if the harddrive is hooked to a ribbon or more like a laptop where it locks on the pins?
Funny, but superbad idea. The power consumption and connectors are totally different between 3.5" HDs and the notebook-style 2.5" HDs. You probably will not be able to do this.greenmeanie said:i was thinking of buying a 3.5" HD about 200gig and cut a hole in top or leave the top off![]()

sjpetry said:Why don't you just get an external harddrive.
