Mac Mini + Homepod Mini

I recently bought an M1 Mac Mini, I really like the computer but the built in speakers aren't that great. I just bought the Homepod Mini and I used that to stream sound to. However whenever i wake the computer up, the sound defaults to the built in speakers. Is there a way to default the sound to the hompod mini?

I am sure this has been raised before and I am almost certain the answer is no. Thinking about it, people wanted to do this with the ATV and it can't be done so I assume the same here. I am sure someone will be along that knows better and why.

thank you for the reply.. it's weird that my cheap ihome speaker can be a default but the homepod had to be selected after each wake up.

I think its simply that it is designed to be a speaker on its own and as you found out, it can be paired with something else just not remembered that way.
