I have a 07 X-Runner and I want to put a Mac mini with a 8" touch screen. Has anyone done anything like this? I have seen a few websites about the mini in vehicles but what other cost are there? Power supplies?

I know there would be a lot more cost but I just can't think what else there is...

Better go to a place where they install high end car stereos and so on

I for sure will but I wanted to talk to others that have done it to see if it's a great feature to have in a vehicle. It would be expensive but I would think the possibilities would be pretty good... surf the web, itunes, movies

If you have a touch screen, will you be able to start moving the Mac OS or will you have to have some touch screen software?

It might be easier to wait for the iPad and use that instead - then all you need is a cigarette lighter power adapter and some way to mount it in the car. :)

This has been brought up before. Mp3car.com is where u will find machines inside vehicles. I have a small PC machine in mine.
Yup. I bought mine there. They sell some pretty good machines. I forgot the name of the software i bought for the touchscreen, but it was the stuff they used to show on Pimp My Ride. It has a really nice UI, etc.

Google Mac Mini carputer ;) There's lots of people that have done this. I remember people finding crafty ways to wire up the Mini so it doesn't restart/shutdown when you turn on your ignition, so this is not just a simple plug-and-play into your cigarette lighter.

Why would anyone need a computer in their car? Just seems to me there's already plenty to see and do in the great outdoors.

Well when your stuck in rush hour traffic, that is one good reason to me. The other could be that your doing something that is not usually done which is fun and keeps your mind going. If you have the money then why not! If I do this then after I can take a walk and see the outdoors.
