Hi.

<first time posting here so treat me gently!>

I am thinking of buying a new Mini M1 (16/256) but need some help with display cables.

I have two Samsung LU28R550UQUXEN monitors currently driving a 15” MacBook Pro from 2015 which I will re-use (they are killing the MacBook at the moment when running 4K60 using mDP).

I will have to use HDMI for one output of the Mac mini but I would like some recommendations for the usb c port. Can someone recommend a good usb c to display port cable or perhaps I could re-use my ugreen 6-in-1 hub and take the HDMI port from that (only does 4k30)?

All other suggestions for display connectivity to those monitors would be great.

Thanks

Whenever I see a post from someone asking about connecting a display, the first question will ALWAYS be:

What kind of INPUTS do you have on the back of the monitor?

I had to do some research, and it looks like that display has 2 HDMI ports (although I couldn't find out what VERSION of HDMI), and a displayport port.

I'd try the HDMI (Mac end) to HDMI (display end) on one display.

For the other, I'd get a USBc (Mac end) to displayport (display end) cable. This is the most "direct" connection possible.

Be aware that WHICH cable you use can "get finicky".

If the second display is cranky with USBc-USBc, you might try a USBc (Mac) to HDMI (display) cable to the HDMI port -- that might make the difference.

Use an HDMI cable for the HDMI port of the M1 Mac mini and a USB-C to DisplayPort cable for the USB-C port of the M1 Mac mini.
