Where I am
Any idea what would cause the Mac Mini M1, to wake and unlock on its own?
Am downstairs and my Apple Watch vibrates, showing that my Mac Mini M1 is awake/unlocked.

What causes this? I do have TimeMachine set to auto backup my Mac Mini M1.

Ps: I have no applications open, and no pets on the keyboard.

Apple Watch can act like TouchID and unlock your Mac.

Right, I understand that and have that setup.

However, if am downstairs, what on earth could wake the Mac Mini M1 and then for the watch to unlock it? Just weird, to me…
Could be a bug, won’t be the 1st time.

Try setting it up again and note if it happens again.

Probably Power Nap and or Wake for Network Access option under power settings is enabled. Waking up but not really unlocked. No need to "re-pair" the Watch with the Mac.

Been close to my Mac when its asleep and this happens on the Watch and the Mac stays locked (never see my desktop).

When you're downstairs, is that by any chance directly below where the computer is located upstairs?

Someone I know had a similar problem. It turns out their kitchen was located directly above their basement home-office, and that was close enough for the Mac sitting on the desk to detect a Watch or iPhone through the floor directly above it.
