Hi, on the base model, after I entered the password to login, it took a few seconds for the Apple trackpad and the Magic Keyboard to function. For example, cursor not moving after entering the password. I had to keep my finger moving on the trackpad for a few seconds before the cursor on the screen started to move. Did not have such issue with other Macs. What is wrong?

I saw another post saying you had to be patient, but that was for 3rd party accessories.....maybe it's not just 3rd part accessories?

Yes, at least the Apple accessories I mentioned as well. This should not be happening. I don’t recall M2 base model has this issue. Is this happening only on the M4 base model or all 2024 Mini? I wonder what is the cause.

Whilst it's an old machine, I always had to do this with my logitech mouse on my 2014 iMac, and now I have to do the same on my M4 mini. I just "wiggle" the mouse then a second later the pointer is "free".

It is kind of strange as being able to key in the pin means that the connection between the keyboard and the trackpad to the Mac Mini M4 have already been established. Yet, I have to wait for about 6.5 seconds for them to be responsive again. Tried two machines. Same problem. Did not have such issue with M2 and M2 Pro Mini.

Got another one yesterday. No problem at the beginning but today, again there was a long halt before it would connect to Apple’s keyboard and trackpad.

Anybody else has this issue?

Ever since I got my first M1 mini, bluetooth has been problematic. Thera are many threads on this. I think it comes down to the physical design of the modern minis. I had a M2 and now a M2 Pro with the same symptoms.

It comes down to the basics; distance between devices, avoiding physical objects between the mac and device, and most of all, many people have success with standing the mini on its side so that the bottom points out into the room (the BT antenna sits on the bottom). Raising the mac higher on the wall also helped with coverage for me.

With fine adjustments like these, I now have three sets of mice and keyboard around the room, plus airpods, headphones, iphone etc, and they work fine. Took a bit of work, though.
