Hello all,

I am in the market for a new Mac mini, and I am thinking of taking the plunge on the new M4!

Question.... I currently have a HD on my primary computer of 2tb. With cloud selective sync, this is just doable. But the mini requires a $600 markup for this internal HD. Should I get an external? What, besides the obvious packaging, are the downside of an external HD?

And if I get an external, which one is best designed to go with the new Mini?

Thanks,
R

From my understanding of these forums, the general consensus is to get an external SSD.
My wife in her last purchase ignored all this advice and went with the internal 2TB.
Downsides of external SSD: it's ugly, you'll have an extra wire sticking out of the Mac mini, and I believe that even if you move your Home folder to it, you'll still have to manually point multiple applications to it. Is it worth the $500 saving for you personally? Only you can decide.
