I set up my Mac mini M4 Pro with my Sony Bravia OLED TV, along with other devices like the Apple TV, sound system, and PS5. I have Bravia sync on, which works great when I turn on the TV. It automatically turns on the sound system.

However, I’ve noticed that when I wake up or use the mini (remote from my MacBook), it switches the TV to the mini input. Is there a way to disable this without turning off Bravia sync? Also, I was wondering if there’s a way to use Thunderbolt 5 to HDMI, if that’s a thing.

I am having the same issue. Only worse, it completely overtakes all of my devices in the system connected to my AV Home Theater receiver. I have a full on case with apple about this. I've already sent them videos and diagnostics data captures. We need a way to be able to turn off HDMI CEC on the Mac Mini HDMI port. I use it mostly headless for my media server needs but sometimes I want to use it as a video source and I don't want the Mac Mini to turn my system on and off. And for me it happens randomly and all the time without me even touching the Mac Mini it would just turn on my whole system.

I have a similar issue on my mac mini m4 pro.
In my tv all the CEC features are disabled. I have the Mini and my AppleTV 4K connected to my TV. When i switch to the hdmi port where my AppleTV is connected and my mini is going to standby mode, the AppleTV also goes to standby. How can i turn of this „feature“?

A quick search across the web seems to lead to many others with the same experience and no apparent solution... including terminal command hacks.

It looks like it's pull the plug when you don't want to use the TV screen and reinsert it when you do. Else, maybe there's some middleman little box to inject between Mini and TV that lets you control if CEC commands execute or don't.

CEC is sent over one dedicated pin in the HDMI cable. So you can remove the pin from the HDMI cable itself, or you can buy a CEC blocker which simply doesn’t pass through pin 13

I bought this one to solve my problem and it works, just make sure to plug it in on the other side of the Mac so straight HDMI into the Mac, the other HDMI end into the HDMI-CEC-BLOCKER and the blocker into (TV/Receiver/wherever you want to plug in your Mac). It would not pass audio when plugged into the other direction for me.
