I know this is speculative, but I'd like to hear others thoughts on the potential compatibility of a refreshed 120Hz Studio Display with the Mac mini options I'm considering:

  • Apple M4 chip with 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
  • Apple M4 Pro chip with 12‑core CPU, 16‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
When taking a look at the specs it appears the M4 has Thunderbolt 4 vs the M4 PRO which has Thunderbolt 5. If Apple refreshes the Studio Display next year, will Thunderbolt 4 be able to drive one or two 120Hz 5K displays? Or will that capability be reserved for Thunderbolt 5?
