I'm considering moving back to Apple after spending the past few months on Linux. I am thinking of buying a Mac Mini to compliment my iBook G4. However, is it worth it when Apple is moving to x86 soon?

Should I wait (I am impatient  )? How long will Apple produce OS X for PowerPC and the same for software?

Thanks

It certainly would be worth it to buy now, regardless of when the Mini goes x86.

As it is, Apple doesn't expect their transition to be over until the end of 2007, so software support (that is brand new software) will carry through at least till then. Also the developers who first start compiling for x86 will use dual binaries, which allow the programs to run on either architecture.

You should feel no apprehension about buying a Mini now, as long as it fits your current needs.
