I have a smart surge protector (really a UPS) and the "Master" power plugin is supposed to detect when the master device is powered on and for a few outlets then turn those on.

For instance, if a PC is plugged in and turned on, then it turns on the outlets for say the monitor and a printer automatically. It does this by noticing there is power being drawn from the PC then says ok, turn these other outlets on.

Well I noticed the Mac Mini, is constantly have that master power go on a off, so any devices plugged on the "control/slave" outlets goes off and on.

So does the Mac Mini have some kind of weird bouncing power usage, that goes from high to low constantly? That is the only thing I can think of that would do this.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to adjust the master power wattage setting on the UPS by programming it with a few button holds and presses. My old PC required a higher setting than the Mac Mini.

I had a similar issue. It seems that the Mini is just too efficient (very little energy consumption), especially when idle/sleeping. This would lead to external drives being shut off without being properly ejected.

Good for you that adjusting the threshold worked for you.
