I am looking to get a new Apple mac gadget, and it would be replacing my HP Dv7 laptop which is nearing the end of its life, i have a 26in HDTV which i would be using with a Mac mini, though i travel alot and thats why a Ipad would be better for me, but i like gaming and i cant decide, help me out here.

Firstly, I would wait for the Mac Mini updates that are just around the corner. As what to go with, what type of games do you enjoy playing?

Mostly World of Warcraft, and Starcraft 2, i also am a Photographer/Videographer so i edit alot of Photos and Videos

Sounds like you'd get more practical value out of a computer rather than an iPad . If you still want portability, you can grab a refurb MacBook from Apple for $760. Or if you want something with dedicated graphics for video editing, refurb iMacs are going for $930.

If you need to carry it with you, you should look at a refurb MacBook Pro in the Apple Store. They have been $899.00. I would suggest this because of your photo editing and video games.

You could get an iPad and watch the videos you load onto it using an hdmi adapter....

Have I missed something here? Hasn't the Dv7 only been on the market for just over a year if that? My Dell Laptop is nearly seven years old running Windows 7 and I still consider it to have some good years left.

Isn't this another classic case of want over need?

The computing power of an iPad is much ... much weaker than a Mac Mini. In your case, a Mac Mini is definitely the choice in comparison with an iPad. However, a Mac Mini may not be good enough for gaming!
