When I get my Mac Mini next week-I intend to replace the HardDrive, do I have to back up what's on the HDD? Remember this Mac is Brand New-And comes with the Install Disc.
Or can I just open the box, install the new harddrive and load up the install disk?

All replys are greatly appreciated:apple:

Well if you intend to upgrade the hard drive right when you get it, I see no need to backup as there are no files you need to back up. Just open it up, install the hard drive, and load up the disks.

I'm now curious what HDD you're putting in it and what your intended purpose is.

Just my opinion, but if you buy a brand new Mac, I would get the Apple Care and buy an external firewire drive in the size you want. That way you're covered on Apple Care and have a movable drive with media.

I'd erase the original hard drive first, mostly as a matter of being obsessively fastidious. It's nice if you want to sell it down the road. But no, there's nothing you need to back up.
