I'm planning on upgrading my mini's ram here shortly, and I have my eye's on some kingston hyperx from newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104103). The only person to have put up a review so far has put up a 1/5. I'm guessing this is just a fluke on their part though.
It seems to be the exact same spec as the current ram in the mac mini (pc3 8500), however I'm wondering if anyone else has used this ram yet.
I've got 4gb of hyperx in my macbook and it worked fine, so I would assume no problems here either. as most problems stem from the lower latency timings with hyperx ram.
I've used kingston ram for about 10 years now and have never had trouble with it before. I really don't care how much better brand x is, i know that kingston works, it's never failed me.
Has anyone upgraded their computer with this ram yet? I just want to make sure that someone with a mac has had success with it before I drop the money on it.
Edit: upon a bit further research, I found that the mac ram adheres to JDEC specifications, as does the kingston ram I'm looking at. So it should function perfectly fine. I'll be tossing that on top of my newegg order for later this month.
