Hey

Im quite new to the mac scene, I have just been given a mac mini from my parents as they have ugraded. Incase you want to know its got 512mb ram, 40gb harddrive.

Basically I have had it for about a week now and hooked it up to my 32inch LCD TV, it looks stunning. However when i come to play video the picture is quite dark and times hard to watch, I have tried changing a few settings but not sure what to do. I'm using VLC for video playback. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also on a side note, how much RAM could the mac mini support.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to mac community first and foremost :D.

What many people do for there home theater is this.

Have a mac mini running the program plex hooked up to their tv. It can play any file and with almost no dropped frames on the new mac minis. The only downside is that it uses a lot of the processor. I'm not completely sure about upgrading the ram but i think you can get up to 4gigs on most models.
