Mac Mini: Shut down or sleep over night?

I am used to shutting computers down over night and don't like the light flashing on the Mac Mini, but the Everything Mac manual says to only shut it down if it is not going to be used for a few days. What about 10 hours overnight? 18 hours over night + school? Should I shut it down or let it sleep?

Sleep. It only uses a few watts of power and its much quicker to start up. Put a piece of tape over the light if you don't like it.

My mini has problems waking from sleep all the time, so it is typically left on or shutdown.

But if sleep is reliable for you, go for it.

I have a 3 year old mini that I only shutdown when I'm on vacation or we're having an bad thunderstorm. (it is on a UPS though). I cover the blinking light with tape.
