Hey,
My family's got a Sony Multiscan 200sx trinitron monitor hooked up to a Mac Mini. The monitor is pretty old, and we just fired it up for the first time in several years when we got the mini in January. It worked fine for about a month and a half, but then it's been starting to refuse to wake up from sleep. You hear the usual "click", but instead of the green power light staying on, it goes off and the monitor refuses to start. When it does start, though, the monitor is perfectly fine.

Now, the question is, is this problem fixable, or is it time for a new monitor? Kind of ironic, we got the mini because we had an extra monitor lying around...I hope Apple announces those 17" displays soon.

2 Suggestions:

1) If you have another monitor, try that on the Mini and see what happens.
2) Try that monitor on another system and see what happens.

Is it fixable? Maybe. It is difficult to diagnose monitors from afar. Is it worth fixing? That's up to you.
