Hi, i've got a samsung monitor which i have linked up to my mac mini.

2 questions really:

1) how do i improve the screen quality as it looks grainy?
2) what do i need to buy/change in order to get the sound through the monitor?

Thank you for the help in advance.

If u go into settings there will a section for display, u can change various things in there to fit your screen etc. Then to get the sound, I'm assuming u are using a VGA cable for video and next to it on the monitor there should be standard red yellow or blue etc input ports like on a TV. There is something they sell in the apple store I just can't think of the name, but they will know what u are talking about when u go in. I need one ass well so im in the same boat lol.

Edit: If u are using an hdmi there it should already work, but u from what I see it looks like u have a display port adapter to vga, then u will need (I think at least don't hold me to it) a standard headphone jack to component cable adapter (that is the one I need too).

Does your monitor have a DVI port on it? One that looks like this:

If so, that will provide you with much higher video quality than VGA.
