also when i start up the mac mini will wireless keyboard and mouse automatically be detected?

MacMinis as HTPCs are fun, but so is searching.

Mini display port to HDMI found at Mono Price for a lot cheaper than ... wait this is the only place I've known to buy.

the resolution is best suited at something native to your TV (check out what res 720p or 1080i/p should be depending upon what your TV can do). And yes, your wireless mouse and keyboard will be detected.
