I just bought a new OWC Envoy Pro EX to give the Mini some extra space. When it's plugged into the far right USB-C spot, it has the click, but any movement of the cable disconnects it from the Mini. In a different USB-C spot it clicks in place too, and doesn't have a spotty connection.

I tried moving a monitor cable into the spot that was having the spotty connection, and it never seems to drop signal.

Is this an issue with the Mini, perhaps a faulty port? Or is this a common issue with USB-C?

How do -other- peripherals behave when plugged into the far right slot?
Sounds crazy, but have you tried "flipping over" the connecting cable and re-connecting that way?

This is the problem with the current landscape of USB-C. Sometimes it's the port, and other times it's the peripheral. I would suggest trying another USB-C capable peripheral and see if that works. If that peripheral works and if "flipping" the connecting cable of the OWC doesn't work, then it sounds like it's either the cable that connects the OWC -> Mini or worst case the USB-C port in the OWC is loose.

I have my main 4k monitor plugged into the far right spot now, and wiggling it doesn't seem to affect the connection at all. The OWC is plugged into a different port the same way (not flipped) and wiggling it doesn't affect the connection.

I recently bought a new USB drive for my Mac mini, and it seem like the USB-C ports on the Mac mini are longer than most manufacturers expect, the chassis blocks the plug from making a proper connection. I had to buy a new USB-C cable where the plug is making a more secure connection, and comparing the two I see that on the other one the "metal" part is slightly longer and thus make the connection properly.
