Hello, new to the forum. Looking at buying my first Mac. My daughter currently does video editing on her iphone. She would like to start using a computer with better programs. What would be better for video editing either a Mac mini or iMac.
Looking at Mac mini with 6 core i7 processor or the 27inch iMac which is a quad core 3.4 i5 processor but has a graphics card.
I know bench scores were much higher on the mini. Bench scores being new to me. Any advice would be amazing thank you.

The dedicated GPU of the iMac would be more useful than the CPU power of the Mini for video editing. The integrated GPU of the mini would likely be fine for iMovie and editing iPhone footage, but if you think she would be moving to a DSLR or other camera with larger 4k files with higher bitrates then you would probably want some kind of GPU.

The mini is cheaper at the base level, but you also have to consider the accessories needed with the mini - mouse, keyboard, monitor. The iMac comes with all of those. Which iMac were you considering?

EDIT: I also should note that the Mini is ultimately more extensible with its 4 thunderbolt 3 ports, so it does have more potential to grow in the future by using accessories (faster/larger storage, eGPU.)

The mini does have a H.265 hardware encoder which can help with videos. And you can get a egpu if needed though there is an added cost.

I prefer the mini over an all in one as when the all in one dies you have to replace the entire thing.
