Hoping someone can help here..

The 34WK95U works flawlessly with my MBP (13" 2018), however it simply will not show the native 5120 x 2160 resolution on the new Mac Mini (i7, 32GB, 1TB).

I've tried with the following;
TB -> USB-C (method I use for MBP)
HDMI -> HDMI
TB -> DP
TB -> USB-C/DP 1.4 adapter -> DP

Resolution is always showing at 3440 x 1440 (it goes give me the option to go up to 8K resolutions, but not the native 21:9). I've tried everything I can find online, but I'm stumped. After 2hr's on the phone to Apple today, it's been escalated and they're calling back tomorrow. They did mention they may need to figure out how "reset the monitor identifier", but that means nothing to me.

Anyone else been in the same boat?

Hi

I can't help much. But FYI I have a Mac mini 2018 (i5, 32Gb, 256GB Internal) and have a Dell U3818DW connected HDMI -> HDMI and it has never had a problem the native 3840x1600 resolution.

I have read in an Amazon review the following:

Hello, You must install a program like Display Menu to access the resolutions not pre-defined by MacOS. You can download it in the App Store.

I have not tried it as I do not need it. I hope it is of some help. May do some googling about the program before installing.

Good luck

Adam

Hi Adam,

I'd be overjoyed if that worked, but unfortunately it's only showing pretty standard aspect ratios - it's getting that type of app with 21:9 aspect ratios that I need.. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Haha, I have the opposite issue.

To me, it switches to 3440 x 1440 occasionally after Mac wakes up from the default 2560 x 1080 and I am trying to figure out how to step that from happening.

To solve this issue you have to always power on first the monitor and then exit from sleep with Mac mini. This works 90% of times but I have return the 34w95k and take a 16:9 lg 4k and all works great. Exit from sleep is immediate.
