My Late '09 Mac Mini absolutely will not shut down normally through the command. (specs in sig) I went through the command yesterday, took a nap and when I came back to the computer nearly 5 hours later it still hadn't I've fixed permissions. Is there anything I can do?

I don't even know the keyboard command to shut down - I always use the Apple menu.

Use a precision adjustment tool?

When you tell it to shut down, do you get the Shut Down dialog box?

Do you let it complete the automatic shut down countdown or do you click the Shut Down button?

When you come back is the Desktop still on the screen?

Have you tried quitting any/all software that you have running before issuing the Shut Down command?

Yes, of course I select the shut down dialog. Everything is normal until it gets to the blue screen right before it would normally shut down, except nothing happens from there.

My drobo control panel stops my mini shutting down. I have to force quit the control panel before my mini will even think about closin down.
