Recently got a new Mac Mini and MacBook Pro and I just noticed that while all the settings are the same on both devices that I can watch Hulu Live on my notebook but the Mini won't let me past the "location" question. I login on the Mini and it asks to verify my location and then I get this Message: "We are unable to determine your location." Everything is up to date. The Location settings are the same on both devices. I can watch Hulu on the Mini if I use FireFox as a browser. I don't have a VPN on or anything I can think of to block my settings. The Mini is hardwired to internet and the MacBook Pro is on wi-fi. So what am I missing? Does anyone have any ideas.

I know this isn't a big deal because I can get to it via Firefox and thru the app on my Apple TV, but it's just annoying that it works in one thing and not the other. I'm open to suggestions.

I just got hulu last night to watch Veronica Mars. My Samsung TV doesn’t support the app but my mac mini does. Don’t know what live is ...

Hulu live is just another tier of the Hulu subscription service that gives you access to more content. My problem is that Safari browser will not let me watch Hulu on my Mac mini, I have to use Firefox or chrome. While on my MacBook Pro I can watch Hulu in Safari. I’m just looking to see if anyone else has had that problem and how they solved it.

Are you on the same MacOS version and Safari version on both?

Yes, both are new and updated to the latest. I’ve got the same settings on everything on both. The only difference that I can see between them is the Mac Mini is connected to my router while the MBP is on my wireless network. And still Hulu says it can’t verify my location.

Have you checked to see if Hulu Live is “Flashed” based? Because Chrome has built in flash support and I believe that Firefox does as well. To my knowledge, Safari does not support Flash, which is a good thing. But check to see if Hulu requires flash. If so there could be your answer why it works in Chrome and not Safari.

I’ll check that out. But it works in Safari on my MBP not the Mac Mini. That’s what’s so weird.

Safari supports flash, but it needs to be installed as it is not installed by default. Chrome has flash built in. So it may be that at one time you installed it on your MBP but did not on the Mini (assuming Hulu needs flash; I don't use it so I have not idea).

I thought you had it figured out but sadly no. I checked Hulu and they don't require Flash, but I noticed it was installed on the MBP and not on the Mini so I got excited and thought that was it. I installed Flash... restarted... and same message.. "We are unable to determine your Location, please try a different browser". All my location preferences that I can find on the Mini match the MBP so I can not figure this out.

1)Have you tried to connect the Mini via Wi-Fi and see if the message goes away?

2)Have you checked and compared both the Mini and Mac laptop to see if the location settings are exactly the same?

3)Does Hulu appear in the location services on the laptop but not on the Mini?

4)Is "Enable Location Services" enabled i.e. checkmark inside the box?

System Prefs -> Security and Privacy -> Privacy Tab -> Location Services. Is Hulu listed there on your MacBook? If so, is it there on the Mini?

The Location settings are the same on both... Hulu is not listed on Location Services on either device since I'm using Safari and not a Hulu App, I don't think there is an app for the mac...Enable Location Services is checked on both... HOWEVER, when I turn the Mac Mini Wi-Fi on (which was off) it worked!

But that raises another question, As I did that I had a message come up that "Television Mac Mini" is already in use and it changed the computer's name to "Television Mac Mini (2). Now, I have sharing enabled on both computers. On my MBP under Locations in my Finder sidebar I only had "Television Mac Mini" still showing and I can't log into it anymore. I ejected the volume from the sidebar but it doesn't show "Television Mac Mini (2). So why did it change the name? And by the way, the Mini is still connected to my router with the Wifi no turned on.
