Hi Guys
I know this issue has been discussed before but nothing I've read has helped so far.
I've got a Mac Mini (intel core 2 duo), running the latest version of Lion with all software up to date etc
When I shut down my mac, unless I unmount my external hard drive (contains my ITunes library) it gets stuck in the shut down process at the final white/grey spinning disc.
However having closed all my apps, repaired permissions, verified discs, reset system controller etc etc it won't always let me unmount the hard drive. I've tried using terminal to 'killall finder' but then Finder wouldn't relaunch so it got stuck shutting down again.
Once I restart mac it clearly auto mounts the ext hdd but as long as I don't run ITunes it will let me unmount the hdd then it will shut down fine
Any ideas greatfully received as I really can't be bothered to reinstall the OS and all the nonsense that comes with that. Sure I could put ITunes library back on the macs hdd but that seems like admitting defeat!!!
Thanks if u've been bothered to read this rambling post...
